1920s Brass Repoussé Coat and Hat Rack with Bevelled Mirror
A striking 1920s brass repoussé coat and hat rack, hand-worked with raised tavern and hunting scenes set within decorative diamond-patterned borders. The rack centres on a bevelled mirror flanked by two embossed panels depicting figures gathered around a table, with a narrower top panel showing hunting dogs and a rural scene. Four lion-head hooks project from the base, offering practical hanging space for coats, hats, or bags, all mounted on a solid wood back board with the original hanging fittings.
The brass has developed a rich, varied patina typical of genuine age, with warm gold tones shifting to darker bronze in the recesses of the relief work. This is a substantial and decorative piece, equally suited to an entrance hall, cloakroom, or as a striking wall feature in its own right.
Please note: there is damage to one of the four hooks, as shown in the photographs. Sold as seen.
