A superb piece of maritime history. This solid sterling silver vesta case, made by Mappin & Webb and fully hallmarked for Birmingham, 1926, carries the crest of the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company—the celebrated British shipping line that later absorbed the famed White Star Line.

Crafted in classic early 20th-century form with softly rounded edges and a sturdy hinge, it was designed to hold matches safely at sea. The front features the finely engraved RMSP crest beneath a crown, complete with the company motto Per Mare Ubique (“By the sea everywhere”).

A wonderful collectible for lovers of nautical history, British silver, or the great age of ocean liners.
