1960s Lotus Pottery Stylised Bull — Elizabeth Skipworth, Devon Studio Pottery, 23cm
A stylised ceramic bull by Lotus Pottery, Devon, designed by Elizabeth Skipworth in the 1960s. Finished in the maker’s classic deep olive-green glaze with a hand-applied spiral scroll motif to the flanks, this design is one of the most recognisable pieces of British studio pottery from the period. Lotus Pottery was founded in 1957 by Michael and Elizabeth Skipworth at Stoke Gabriel, Devon, and their sculptural animal figures became popular souvenirs and collectables through the 1960s and 70s. Measures 23cm long, 14cm high.
