Antique Victorian Carved Oak Ecclesiastical Collection Box c.1890
A lovely late Victorian ecclesiastical collection box, c.1890, carved in solid oak with real depth and character. Each of the five visible sides is richly decorated with hand-cut foliate designs, and the top carries the original coin slot framed by bold carving.
The form is wonderfully architectural — a cube body, an overhanging top gallery and a flared base foot — giving it real presence on a shelf or table. The underside is secured with four brass screws, typical of the period. No maker’s mark, but clearly the work of a skilled craftsman.
A beautiful piece of late 19th-century English church furniture, full of texture and history. Perfect for collectors of religious artefacts, lovers of carved oak, or anyone wanting a striking decorative piece with real Victorian soul.
