This gorgeous Bitossi pottery slab vase, was made in the 1960's by Aldo Landi for Bitossi Ceramics. Aldo Landi became artistic director for Bitossi in 1946. This vase comes from his Spanolo range of pottery items with decoration inspired by Moorish tiles and historical Mediterranean ceramics. The simple slab or brick shaped vase is made of clay infused with crushed granules to give it a rough texture. Recurring Spanish geometrical and floral motifs are impressed into the surface, then picked out in green and brown, on a glossy yellow glazed base. The vase measures 9cm across, 6cm deep, 13cm high. It is in lovely condition with just one tiny speck of glaze loss as shown. It remains an utterly stunning piece of modern design and craftsmanship
