Burslem Potteries WWI Peace Mug, 1914–1918 – Sir David Beatty’s Historic Signal

A striking World War One commemorative mug by Burslem Potteries, marking the end of the Great War in 1918. One side features Britannia surrounded by Allied flags, the word PEACE with a white dove, and the motto Liberty, Justice, Truth, Honour. The reverse carries Sir David Beatty’s Historic Signal — “The German flag is to be hauled down at sunset to-day, and is not to be hoisted again without permission,” dated November 21st, 1918.

 

This evocative piece of British history captures the national pride and relief that followed the Armistice. A wonderful addition for collectors of military or commemorative ceramics.

 

Good vintage condition with fine overall crazing and a small chip to the underside of the base.
