Edwardian Mahogany Torchere – Turned Pedestal Plant Stand – 106cm – c.1900–1910
A handsome Edwardian mahogany torchere in excellent condition. The circular dished top with moulded rim sits above a beautifully turned pedestal column featuring a bold ball-and-ring turning at the centre and a reeded lower section, all raised on a elegant tripod base with three swept cabriole legs ending in pad feet — a classically proportioned piece with real presence.
Torcheres of this form were used throughout the Edwardian period as plant stands, lamp stands, or decorative pedestals, and remain one of the most versatile antique furniture pieces. This example has aged to a warm, rich dark mahogany tone and retains excellent structural integrity.
A wonderful statement piece for a hallway, living room, or bedroom — equally suited to displaying a lamp, plant, sculpture or ornament.
