An original pochoir fashion illustration produced for the influential early 20th-century magazine La Gazette du Bon Ton, dating to around 1912.

 

The illustration is by Edouard Garcia Benito (1891–1981), one of the defining artists associated with the magazine and a key figure in the development of Art Deco fashion illustration. His work is celebrated for its elegant line, stylised figures and sophisticated sense of modernity.

 

Executed using the pochoir technique, the image shows a refined fashion scene with a stylised female figure, delicate accessories and a strong sense of balance and movement. The restrained palette and confident line work are characteristic of the period and of Garcia Benito’s distinctive style.
