Description

A striking Art Deco garniture from the 1930s, featuring a pair of stylised deer captured in an elegant naturalistic scene.

The two deer are cast in spelter with a dark patinated finish and stand on a dramatic marble base composed of contrasting tones and geometric sections, typical of the bold decorative language of the Art Deco period. One deer stands alert while the other bends to graze, creating a sense of movement and balance across the long rectangular base.

The sculptural forms are beautifully observed, with slender legs and simplified modelling that reflect the streamlined aesthetics of the era. Pieces like this were often designed to sit on a mantelpiece, sideboard or console, where their elongated composition could be fully appreciated.

The marble base itself adds real visual impact with striking natural veining and colour contrast, making the piece both a sculpture and an architectural decorative object.

There is a small amount of damage to the marble base, visible in photographs, but overall the piece remains in good vintage condition and displays very well.

A bold and elegant decorative piece that captures the spirit of 1930s Art Deco design.
