Mid-20th Century Soviet Porcelain Figure – Peasant Woman with Sheaf by Gorodnitsa Porcelain Factory
Mid-20th Century Soviet Porcelain Figure – Peasant Woman with Sheaf by Gorodnitsa Porcelain Factory
A striking mid-20th century Soviet porcelain figure made by the Gorodnitsa Porcelain Factory in Ukraine. This beautifully modelled piece depicts a kneeling peasant woman resting on a sheaf of wheat — a classic Socialist Realist image celebrating rural labour and dignity.
Rendered in glossy white porcelain, the sculpture has a quiet strength and sculptural simplicity, typical of Gorodnitsa’s 1950s–60s style. Her pose and upward gaze suggest both pride and endurance, making it a fine example of post-war Soviet artistry.
Unmarked except for the impressed Gorodnitsa factory stamp and model number 815 to the base.
A wonderful addition for collectors of Soviet porcelain, mid-century ceramics, or vintage figurines with a story.
