Mid century Carstens Tonnieshof large jug/vase

This beautiful West German pottery jug or vase was made by Carstens Tonnieshof in the 1960's, and it really has that retro look. It is marked 698-23 on the base and measures approximately 23cm high. The diameter is approximately 20cm excluding the chunky handle. The outside of the main body of the piece is a light beige or grey colour. It features brown bands of varying sizes circling the body at the top and the bottom. Around the middle, widest part of the pot there is an abstract repeated shape in a slightly textured red glaze. The overall effect is a beautiful mid twentieth century design which harks back to an earlier period of history. The condition is perfect with no chips or cracks.  There is a small area of imperfection to the glaze around the rim, which does not detract from the piece.
