Pair of Late Victorian Pressed Glass Candlesticks with Square Bases
A striking pair of late Victorian glass candlesticks, beautifully proportioned and well balanced, with tall faceted stems rising from substantial square bases.
The glass is richly patterned throughout, featuring diamond and geometric de-sign to the stems and bases, catching the light particularly well when in use. Their confident form bridges late Victorian design and the emerging geometric clarity seen slightly later in continental Art Deco glass, and they may be of German manufacture.
Well proportioned and elegant, these candlesticks work just as well styled symmetrically on a mantelpiece or dining table as they do displayed among other period glass.
A strong decorative pair, offered in excellent condition.
