A striking example of Pierre Giraudon’s iconic resin work — a frosted incandescent lightbulb with metal screw base, cast and suspended within a clear amber-tinted resin block. The bulb appears to float within the solid cube, creating the optical illusion Giraudon became celebrated for during the 1960s and 70s.
Giraudon, the French artist and designer, produced a series of objects encased in polyester resin — everyday items elevated to sculptural curiosities through the casting process. His work sits firmly within the Pop Art and Space Age design movements of the era and is increasingly collected.
The base reveals the original bulb fitting where the resin meets the screw thread. Surface scratching to the base consistent with age and use.
