The 'Vertushka' or 'Kremlyovka' was an internal closed system of party and government telephone communications in the Soviet Union. The phone is dial-less and would directly link to the Kremlin to key subordinates such as regional party secretaries, high ranking military officials or state-owned factory chiefs.
