A 1958 Soviet children’s booklet that has survived nearly seven decades in good condition. TAK, meaning “Like This,” features poems by Sergei Mikhalkov, one of the most celebrated Soviet children’s poets and the writer behind the Soviet national anthem, alongside illustrations by Alexei Pakhomov, known for his warm and realistic portrayals of Soviet childhood.

Published by the Leningrad branch of Detgiz, the state children’s publishing house, this copy carries a handwritten inscription from January 1959, gifted from Zoya to a little girl named Masha. A piece of everyday Soviet life that tells a quiet personal story alongside its historical one.
