Large Vintage Marei Keramik Fat Lava Vase with Handle – Mid-Century West German Pottery
This very large mid-century fat lava vase with handle is a bold example of West German pottery from the 1960s–70s. Standing at approximately 30cm high with a 14cm base diameter, it features a striking contrast of glossy cobalt glaze above and richly textured volcanic glaze below.
Although the base is unmarked, the glaze pattern and colour palette suggest it is a piece by Marei Keramik, one of the noted West German manufacturers of the era. Its impressive size and vivid finish make it ideal as a statement vase or as a sculptural decorative object in its own right.
