Victorian Daguerreotype Portrait in Oak Frame – c.1850s–1860s
A striking antique daguerreotype portrait of a young woman in Victorian dress, dating to the mid-19th century. The sitter wears a checked gown with wide sleeves and belt, typical of the 1850s–1860s, and is posed with a calm, direct expression.
The image is mounted within its original pressed copper surround and housed in an oak outer frame with hanging loop. On the reverse is an old handwritten inscription, partially legible, which may provide details of the sitter’s identity — a rare survival that adds real character and historical interest.
