A beautifully preserved example of Czech decorative glasswork from the 1970s. This perfume bottle combines an amethyst-tinted glass body with an elaborate silver-tone metal filigree overlay, applied to both faces of the flattened circular bottle. The front face features a central wheel rosette design set with faceted pink rhinestones in individual claw settings, radiating outward through scrolled metalwork to the decorative rim. The reverse presents a plain oval glass panel within a filigree surround, allowing the warm amethyst tone of the glass to show through clearly.
The crown stopper is a particularly fine detail — an ornate domed cap of beaded and scrolled metalwork with its own central rhinestone, screwing onto a threaded glass neck. The original glass dauber applicator is intact inside the bottle, making this a fully functional as well as decorative piece.
Czech filigree perfume bottles were produced in significant quantities during the mid-twentieth century, largely for export, and were noted for combining fine glasswork with intricate handworked metal decoration. Examples in this condition — with no chips, cracks, missing stones, or damage to the filigree — are increasingly difficult to find.
A lovely gift, dressing table piece, or addition to a perfume bottle collection.
