Description
A lovely 1940s Fyne-Poynt propelling pencil by Mabie, Todd & Co., presented in its original box with instruction leaflet and a small vial of spare leads.
Mabie, Todd & Co. were one of Britain’s best-known pen and pencil manufacturers, famous for their Swan fountain pens and high-quality writing instruments. The Fyne-Poynt pencil features an elegant gold-plated body with finely engraved decoration and a classic streamlined form typical of mid-20th-century design.
The pencil operates using a propelling and repelling mechanism, allowing the lead to be advanced or withdrawn smoothly. The original instruction sheet explains the system and remains with the set, along with the small glass vial that originally held spare leads.
Sets like this are increasingly hard to find complete with their original packaging and paperwork, making it a particularly appealing example for collectors of vintage writing instruments or desk accessories.
A charming and practical piece of mid-century stationery design, equally suitable for display or use.
