Product Description
A striking vintage wooden cog wheel form, possibly a pattern used for casting machinery parts or a studio prop.
The piece is constructed from solid timber with a segmented circular rim and individually shaped wooden teeth. The interior features a cross-braced structure and central hub, typical of traditional wooden gear or pattern construction.
Objects like this were sometimes made as foundry patterns, used to create moulds for casting metal machine parts. Alternatively, pieces of this type were also used as set dressing or prop elements in film and television studios where large industrial forms were required.
An inventory label remains attached to the reverse, suggesting the piece may have formed part of a workshop, theatre or studio stock system.
Regardless of its original purpose, the strong geometry and aged surface give it real visual presence. It now works beautifully as an industrial decorative object or wall piece, particularly in loft, workshop or modern interiors.
